Welcome to my passion project. My name is Raphael Canillas, and I am a graduate of De La Salle University in Manila with a degree in economics. Currently, I am pursuing the CFA designation and working in the insurance/investment industry. My responsibilities include managing investments, conducting research on capital markets, and formulating investment strategies.
Growing up, my nanay and tatay would teach me the importance of investing and diskarte. They would even teach me the importance of reading and the telling of good stories. Little did I know that the unlikely pairing of these two teachings would be the foundations of my life as I grew older, and now I want to share my learnings.
I chose to title my work “KITA.” as it is a play on the Filipino word meaning either vision or profit. The website contains my initiative to share some Filipino financial wisdom from our nation’s past for the modern kababayan. The website will dive into stories about formidable financiers, untangle complex financial concepts, and unlock your vision of prosperity.
I do hope that the content that I’ve written will be a healthy distraction to veer away from the monotonicity of finance; it is my goal to make the field more interesting and entertaining.
